Endangered Species Se-tenant 4 Blocks

The United Nations Postal Service will issued twelve new stamps that have postage values of $1.20, 1.40chf and 0.80 Euro named "Endangered Species 2015" on the 16th of April 2015. This is the twenty second year in a row that the United Nations has issued an endangered species set. The first was in 1993. This year the endangered species depicted on the stamps are the birds of paradise. They are considered to be the most colorful group of birds in the world. Each paradise bird depicted on the stamps are in a se-tenant block of 4 format. They are as follows:

  • Cicinnurus regius (King Bird of Paradise), Top left
  • Paradisaea rudolphi(Blue Bird of Paradise), Top right
  • Astrapia stephaniae (Princess Stephanies Bird of Paradise), Bottom left
  • Parotia carolae (Carolas Parotia), Bottom right
Vienna, Austria, 1.40chf
  • Diphyllodes respublica (Wilsons Bird of Paradise), Top left
  • Ptiloris paradiseus (Paradise Riflebird), Top right
  • Semioptera wallacii (Standard wing Bird of Paradise), Bottom left
  • Paradisaea dicora (Goldies Bird of Paradise), Bottom right
Geneva, Switzerland, 0.80 Euro
  • Pteridophora alberti (King of Saxony Bird of Paradise), Top left
  • Astrapia splendidissima (Splendid Astrapia), Top right
  • Paradisaea apoda (Greater Bird of Paradise), Bottom left
  • Lophorina superba (Superb Bird of Paradise), Bottom right

"Endangered Species 2015" stamps can be purchased as se-tenant blocks of 4, Sheets of 16, and assorted FDC's. The size of each stamp is 39.2mm x 28.6mm with a perforation size of 12.5 x 12.75 using the 2cm reference. They will been printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps Security Printers B.V., Netherlands using the Offset Lithography printing process. Quantities of each printed is as follows:

  • $1.20 New York: 92,000 of each
  • 1.40 CHF Vienna: 80,000 of each
  • O.80 Euro Geneva: 100,000 of each
