Switzerland Postal Service 2017 Issue

Switzerland Postal Service has issued two new stamps with postage values of 0.85CHF and 1.00CHF named "Emoji" on August 31st, 2017. The stamps depict the famous small images and icons included in our SMSs and e-mails known as emojis. These small pictures allow us to clearly show our feeling when communicating with others. Emoji were created by Shigetaka Kuritas in 1998 when he was hired by a Japanese mobile phone provider to create simple single color icons. Since then, many new emojis have been created in the digital world. Apple, Google and Facebook all have their own versions of emojis.

Emoji stamps can be purchase as a set of 2, Booklet of 10, Assorted Blocks , Special Folder, and assorted FDCs. The size of each stamp is 33mm x 28mm . They were printed by Joh. Enschede, Haarlem, Netherlands using the offset four color printing process.
