Pro Patria - Village Museums

The Switzerland Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have postage values of 85 + 40Chf and 100 + 50Chf named "Pro Patria - Village Museums" on the 7th of May 2015. Pro-Patria is a Switzerland Post program that uses the surcharge to fund selected projects. In this case it is Village Museums. This issue of 4 stamps completes a three year twelve part set of special stamps devoted to museums. The four items depicted above on these stamps is listed as follows:

  • Top Left - Wine Barrel, located at the Vine and Wine Museum, Aigle Castle.
  • Top Right - Tobacco Pouch known as a Backseckl, located in the Appenzell Innerrrhoden Museum.
  • Bottom Left - Butter board, is from the Berchten Collection in the Saanen Museum.
  • Bottom Right - Merovingian Jewel, located in the Turmhof Museum in Steckborn.

Pro Patria - Village Museums stamps can be purchased as a set of 4, Sheets of 20, Special folder, Assorted blocks, Stamp booklet and Assorted FDCs. The size of the stamps is 33mm x 33mm and the size of the sheets is 195mm x 142mm. They were printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps Security Printers B.V. (Netherlands) using the offset 4 color printing method.
