Mushrooms

The Sweden Postal Service has issued seven new stamps with a domestic postage value named "Mushrooms" on the 20th of August 2015. Mushroom stamps have been printed by many different postal services including the Sweden Post. There are two previous mushroom issues printed by the Sweden post. The first was in October 1978 and the second in August 1996. Knowledge about mushrooms has been a study for many years. Men like Elias Fries (1794 -1878) who help develop modern mycology, the study of mushrooms. Catalogued and illustrated many of the common mushrooms types which lead to his book "Swedens Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms" published in 1860. Five of the seven mushrooms stamps printed were taken from his illustrated works. They are the weeping milk cap, porcini, changle, scarlet waxy cap and funnel chanterelle.

Mushrooms stamps can be purchased as a booklet of 10, Coil of 10, Collector Sheet and FDCs. The size of the booklet stamps is 26.5mm x 36.6mm and the size of the coil stamps is 26.5mm x 26.5mm. They were printed using the offset printing method with self adhesive paper.
