Traante 2017

Norway has issued two new stamps with a postage value of A Domestic named "Traante 2017" on February 6th, 2017. The top stamp above features the Sami flag and a stylized figure that represents the Sami Parliament. The bottom stamp above features the Sami flag and Elsa Laula Renberg. Norway has issued these stamps to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Sami first national congress held in Traante -Trondheim. This congress was an important event in Sami history. Sami people across the national boundaries gathered together to discuss the important issues and challenges that confronted them. Elsa Laula Renberg was the person to initiate this meeting which brought together more than 100 participants. This day was later named Sami National Day which represents the Sami people in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. This year the main celebration event will take place in Trondheim between the 5th and 12th of February. It will consist of the Norwegian royal couple and Sami parliament authorities from the four countries.

Traante 2017 stamps can be purchase as a set of 2 and FDCs. They will be printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the offset printing process.
