Europa Musical Instruments

The Ireland Postal Service has issues two new stamps that have postage values of 60 and 90 cents named "Europa Musical Instruments" on the 8th of May 2014. Every year the European Post Offices get together and pick a common theme for Europa stamp issues. This year the theme is National Musical Instruments. Ireland post office issues for this year Europa is a Harp and a Bodhran (drum). It is believed that the harp was created and use in Ireland before 1100 A.D. The Bodhran (drum) was created from the Tambourine in the late 18th century. Both stamps have been issued in a beautiful display sheet of 10 as shown below.

"Europa Musical Instruments" can be purchase as a single, Display sheet of 10, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 36mm by 36mm with a stamp perforation size of 13.5 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Irish Security Stamp Printing Ltd using the Lithography printing process. A total of 136K of 60c stamps have been printed and 116k of 90c stamps have been printed.
