The Centenary of the Flag of Iceland

The Iceland Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 50g named "The Centenary of the Flag of Iceland" on the 30th of April 2015. This Iceland flag stamp is being issued by the Iceland Post to celebrate its 100th year anniversary. The miniature sheet being issued with this stamp has a different image with a postage value of 2000g. The history of this flag begins with the Prime Minister of Iceland Hannes Hafstein who established the Flag Committee in December 1913. After many designs and rejections of the future Iceland flag. One was finally accepted by all and adopted as the flag of Iceland on June 19, 1915. On this same day a royal decree was issued confirming a new constitution for Iceland as a free and sovereign state under the Danish crown.

The Centenary of the Flag of Iceland stamp can be purchased as a single, Miniature sheet, Sheet of 10, and FDC. The size of the stamp is 30mm x 35mm and the size of the miniature sheet stamp is 43mm x 35mm. It was printed by Cartor Security Printing, France using the 4 color offset lithography printing method.
