Eruopa 2015, Old Toys

The Iceland Postal Service has issued two new stamps that have a postage value of 50g named "Europa 2015, Old Toys" on the 30th of April 2015. The stamps depict two popular older wooden toys which were the Duck and Dua Car. The Europa 2015 theme wooden toys was selected by PostEurop, the association of European public postal operators. Each year this postal authority gets together and selects a postal theme for the year. Wooden toys in Iceland became very popular in 1985 when a workshop called Aldan began to manufacture them. This work shop created all different kinds of wooden toys and supported a relief center for children through the Red Cross. These toys can be seen today, at the local museum and other places around Iceland.

"Europa 2015 - Old Toys" stamps can be purchased as a set of 2, Sheets of 10, Booklets of 10 and assorted FDC's. The size of the stamps is 36mm x 21mm . They were printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the 4 color offset lithography printing process.
