Lighthouses IV, Dyrholaey and Akranes Lighthouses

The Iceland Postal Service has issued two new stamps that have postage values of 125 ISK and 240 ISK named "Lighthouses IV" on the 11th of September 2014. These two stamps depict Lighthouse Dyrholaey and Lighthouse Akranes.

Dyrholaey lighthouse is located in Dyrholaey Island and was built in 1927. It is 12.7 meters in height and is 123 meters above sea level. It is fitted with a cylindrical lantern that is 4.7 meters in height and has a catadioptric revolving lens that is 1000mm in diameter. Architect Guojon Samuelsson was the original designer.
Akranes lighthouse is a conical tower that is 19.2 meters in height and stands on a concrete octangular base. It is fitted with a lantern that is 3.5 meters in height and has a 500mm catadioptric revolving lens. Its design is based on engineer Axel Sveinsson.

"Lightouses IV" stamps can be purchase as singles, Sheets of 10, and assorted FDCs. The size of each stamp is 40mm x 30mm. They were printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the Offset lithography printing process. The backing of each sheet of 10 depicts the architect lighthouse drawings as shown in the pictures below.
