Old Fire Trucks

The Faroe Islands Postal Service has issued three new stamps with postage values of 1.00, 15.00, and 19.00 DKK named "Old Fire Trucks" on the 22nd of February 2016. These stamps feature a historic fire pump and two old fire engines. The fire pump (top above) dates back to 1776 and was the first fire pump used in the Faroe Islands. The Bedford K fire truck (bottom left above) was acquired in 1948 and features two motorized pumps, a 500m long hose and a 20m ladder. It could accommodate ten fire fighters, fire fighters uniforms and fire fighting equipment. The Triangle fire truck (bottom right above) was built in 1937 and features a 1500 litres water tank and a pressure water pump. These two fire trucks and the original fire pump from 1776 have been preserved by the fire station staff.

Old Fire Trucks stamps can be purchased as set of 3, Booklet of 6, and assorted FDCs. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 43.5mm . They were printed by LM Group, Canada using the offset printing process.
