The Atkinson Expedition in 1833 Mini-sheet

The Faroe Islands Postal Service will issue a new mini sheet with 4 stamps that have a postage value of 8.50 DKK named "The Atkinson Expedition in 1833" on the 23rd of February 2015. This new mini sheet depicts the actual sketches made by George Clayton Atkinsons during his expedition to the Faroe Islands in 1833. His journal of the expedition contain twenty nine full color works of art and four portraits. The stamps in the mini sheet depict:

  • Top Left - a Faroese Waterfill and a Waterfall in Vagar
  • Top Right - the town of Torshavn
  • Bottom Left - Landscapes with vistas over the islands of Koltur and Hestur.
  • Bottom Right - Rock Formation, Trollkonufingur

"The Atkinson Expedition in 1833" stamps can be purchased in a mini sheet of 4, and a FDC. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 40mm and the size of the mini sheet is 91mm x 94mm. They will be printed by Cartor Security Printing, France using the offset printing process.
