Monaco Christmas 2016 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visited Austria, Jersey of Monaco. Each of their 2016 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Austria issued two different stamps this Christmas with the names "Words to Silent Night" and "The Meek Child with the Curly Hair - Mariapfarr" on November 25, 2016. The Words to Silent Night stamp was design by Anita Kern. It depicts an excerpt from a manuscript housed in the Salzburg Museum. It also depicts the authors name Joseph Mohr who wrote it in 1824 and named it Christmas Carol. This stamp can be purchase as a single and its size is 40mm x 32.59mm. It was printed by Cartor Security Printing using the offset printing process. The second stamp issue was design by Dieter Kraus named The Meek Child with the Curly Hair - Mariapfaar. It depicts a painting from the Late Gothic High Altar Church, and features Mary holding baby Jesus with three wise men worshipping the baby Jesus with Joseph seen in the background. This stamp can be purchase as a strip of 5 and its size is 35mm x 35mm. It was printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps B.V. using the offset printing process.

Jersey issued eight new stamps named "Father Christmas 2016" on November 21, 2016. Designed by Andrew Farley these stamps feature Father Christmas(Santa Claus) in eight popular Christmas scenes including Jersey Post Headquarters. The stamps can be purchased as a set of 8, Sheets of 10, Miniature sheet, Presentation pack and FDC. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 40mm. They were printed by Cartor Security Printing, France using the 4 color offset lithography printing process.

Monaco issued a new stamp named "Christmas 2016" on November 4, 2016. Designed by Chemin des Creches de Monaco this stamp features the Italian Nativity scene shown during the Nativity Trail held between December 2015 and January 2016 in Monaco-Ville. The stamp can be purchased as a single and FDC. The size of each stamp is 48.85mm x 30mm. It was printed by Chemin des Creches de Monaco using the offset printing process.
