Switzerland Christmas 2016 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Great Britain, Guernsey and Switzerland. Each of their 2016 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Great Britain issued eight colorful new Christmas stamps named "Christmas 2016" on November 8, 2016. Design by The Chase these stamps depict some of the most popular festive Christmas traditions. They include a Snowman(2nd), Robin Redbreast Bird(1st), decorated Christmas Tree(1.05pound), Candle in a Lantern(1.35pound), Stuff Stocking(1.52pound)and Gingerbread Cake(2.25pound). The stamps can be purchased as set of 8, Miniature sheet, Presentation pack and Assorted FDCs. The sizes of the stamps is 24mm x 28mm and 34mm x 28mm. They were printed by Del La Rue Security Printers using the gravure printing process.

Guernsey issued seven new stamps named "Christmas 2016" on November 8th 2016. Designed by Mark Totty, these stamps follow the theme of Great Britain with a stamp issue that features some of the most popular Christmas traditions in the UK. They feature Christmas Bells(38p), Christmas Tree(43p), Christmas Present(57p), Santa(58p), Reindeer(64p), Snowman(70p) and Stars(78p). The stamps can be purchased as a set of 7, Presentation Pack and assorted FDCs. The size of each stamp is 43mm x 37mm with a perforation size of 10 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Joh Enschede using the offset printing with cold foil printing process with 196gsm self adhesive paper.

Switzerland issued four new Christmas stamps named "Christmas 2016" on November 10, 2016. These stamps were design by Ludek Martschini, Lucerne and features a young girl Christmas gifts from her friend. The story begins with a heavy snowfall at the young girl house. When she looks out the window at the rear of the house she finds marks in the snow which include images of a Christmas tree, a snowman, an angel and a sledge. She smiles with happiness knowing it was here next door friend Sven. Even though she receive a number of Christmas gifts she believes his was the best gift of all! The four stamps feature a Christmas Tree(85CHF), Snowman(100CHF), Angel(150CHF) and Sled(200CHF). The size of each stamp is 33mm x 28mm and the size of the sheetlets is 82mm x 198mm. The stamps can be purchase as a set of 4, sheets(5 rows of 2 stamps), and assorted FDC's. They were printed by Carter Security Printing, La Loupe, France using the four color offset printing process.
