Hydrangeas

The Canada Postal Service has issued two new stamps with a postage value of permanent domestic rate named "Hydrangeas" on the 1st of March 2016. Canada post welcomes spring with these 2 new Hydrangeas stamps that is part of the Canada Post 2016 edition of annual flowers. These stamps feature two different types of Hydrangeas flowers. Depicted on the left stamp of the above picture is the Hydrangea macrophylla, and the stamp on the right side above is a Hydrangea arboresens. These stamps feature high-contrast tones, sumptuous colors with realistic details. The Official First Day Cover features a pattern that is used for traditional 1940s wallpaper; and the booklet features special hydrangea stickers to seal your envelopes.

Hydrangeas stamps can be purchased as a booklet of 10, Souvenir Sheet, Strips of 10 and 4, Coil of 50 and FDCs. The size of each stamp is 26mm x 32mm for booklet, 24mm x 20mm for vertical coil, 120mm x 84mm for the souvenir sheet, and 191mm x 113mm for the official first day cover. They were printed by Lowe Martin using the six colors lithography printing process. Total quantity of each printed is as follows:

  • Booklet of 10 stamps, 1,000,000
  • Coil of 50 stamps, 90,000
  • Souvenir sheet of 2 stamps, 120,000, Note: PVA Gum
  • Official First Day cover, 10,000
