Oscar Micheaux - Pioneering Filmmaker

The United States Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 44 cents named "Oscar Micheaux" on the 22nd of June 2010. This stamp is part of the Black Heritage series that honors pioneering filmmaker Oscar Micheaux. Who wrote, directed, produce and distributed more than 40 movies during the first half of the 20th century. He thrived at a time when African-American filmmakers were rare. His entrepreneurial spirit and independent vision continue to inspire new generations of filmmakers and artists.

"Oscar Micheaux" stamp can be purchased as a single, Pane of 20, Block of 10, Block of 4, Cultural Diary, and FDC. The size of each stamp is 25.15mm x 39.62mm. It will be printed by Avery Dennison using the gravure printing process. A total of 80 million stamps will be printed.
