Year of the Ox

United States Postal Service will issue a new commemorative stamp that has a postage value of 42 cents named "Year of the Ox" on the 3rd of January 2009. This is the second stamp issue for the Celebrating Lunar New Year series which will continue through 2019. The first was issued in 2008 depicting red lanterns and was issued to mark the Year of the Rat. Year of the Ox begins January 26th, 2009 and the stamp depicts a lion head which is often seen at parades and other festivities.

"Year of the Ox" can be purchased as individual stamp, Souvenir sheet of 12, and various FDC's. It will be printed using the Offset printing method.
