American Scientists

United States Postal Service has issued 4 new stamps with a postage value of 41 cents named "American Scientists" on the 6th of March 2008. This is the second issue of the American Scientists series of commemorative stamps. Each stamp depicts a portrait of the scientist along with diagrams or photographic representations of their field. Information about each scientist is printed on the back of each stamp; and each scientist depicted on the stamps is listed below:

  • Edwin Hubble (Top Left): Astronomer
  • John Bardeen (Top Right): Physicist
  • Gerty Cori (Bottom Left): Biochemist
  • Linus Pauling (Bottom Right): Chemist

"American Scientists" stamps can be purchased as a strip of 4, Block of 10, Pane of 20, and FDC's. They will be printed using the gravure printing process.
