Holiday Knits
& The Madonna of the Carnation

United States of America Postal Service (USPS) has issued Five new Christmas stamps that have a postage value of 41 Cents named "Holiday Knits" and "The Madonna of the Carnation" on the 25th of October 2007. These Holiday Knits stamps were inspired by traditional Norwegian sweaters and knitted Christmas Stockings. The four stamps depict classic holiday imagery designed and knitted by illustrator Nancy Stahl. The Madonna of the Carnation is a depiction of an oil on painting done by Milanese Bernardino Luini. Dating to around 1515 the painting is now part of the Samuel H. Kress Collection at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

"Holiday Knits" stamps can be purchase as a Block of 4, Pane of 20, Convertible Booklet of 20, or FDC's. The size of the stamps is 23.11mm x 30.23mm with a serpentine cut perforation. . Pane size is 140.97mm x 146.30mm. They will be printed by Banknote Corporation of America using the offset printing process. A quantity of 200 million stamps will be printed.

"The Madonna of the Carnation" stamps can be purchase as a Booklet of 20, or FDC's. The size of the stamp is 23.11mm x 30.23mm with a serpentine cut perforation. . Booklet size is 146.30mm x 60.45mm. They will be printed by Ashton Potter USA Ltd. using the offset printing process with Micorprint "USPS". A quantity of 700 million stamps will be printed.
