UNITED NATIONS POSTAL SERVICE 2001 ISSUE
Design by Robert Stein

The United Nations Postal Service has issued a new stamp in honor of itself and the Secretary General of the United Nations. The stamp features the United Nations flag and will be available on the 10th of December 2001. The new stamp will honor Kofi A. Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, and the United Nations for being awarded the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded for their work in creating a better organized and more peaceful world. Today the United Nation is the forefront of efforts to achieve peace and security in the world. It is a way to spark international mobilization aimed at meeting the world's economic, social and environmental challenges. Kofi Annan has devoted almost his entire working life to the United Nations. As Secretary-General he has revitalized the organization. He has also expanded the role of the United Nations by including human rights, anti-disease, and anti-terrorism into the United Nations policies. If there is ever a chance for world peace, it will be achieve through the United Nations.
