United Nations Postal Services 2005 Issue

Nature's Wisdom

United Nations Postal Service will issue a set of six new stamps with postage values of 37 & 80 Cents, 1,00 & 1,30 F.s., and 0,55 & 0,75 Euro named "Nature's Wisdom" on the 21st of April 2005. This commemorative set is being issued at the same time Japan is having its 2005 World Exposition in Aichi, Japan. The Exposition started on March 25, 2005 and will end on September 25, 2005. The overall theme of the Expo is "Nature's Wisdom" and it aims to promote the sustainable coexistence of humanity and nature through sharing the wisdom of each. A United Nations Pavilion at the Expo will feature the interrelationship of those issues with nature in the past, currently and in the future at both local and global levels. Exhibits, program activities and special events at the UN Pavilion will reflect the importance to preserve global common goods. Each stamp is described as follows:

  • 37 Cents - Ice Climber, Norway
  • 80 Cents - Egret Japan
  • F.s. 1,00 - Children collecting water during drought, India
  • F.s. 1,30 - Ruby Brittle Star, Bahamas
  • Euro 0,55 - Desert Landscape, China
  • Euro 0,75 - Cheetah Family, Africa

"Nature's Wisdom" can be purchased as singles, Sheets of 20 with four marginal inscriptions, or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 50mm x 45mm with a perforation of 13 x 13. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing, France using the Offset printing process. Quantity printed of each is as follows:

  • 37 Cents 14,000 Sheets
  • 80 Cents 10,000 Sheets
  • F.s. 1,00 9,000 Sheets
  • F.s. 1,30 9,000 Sheets
  • Euro 0,55 11,500 Sheets
  • Euro 0,75 11,500 Sheets
