International Day of Happiness

The United Nations Postal Service has issued six new stamps with postage values of 47 cents, $1.15, F.s.1, F.s.1.40, 0.90 Euro, and 1.70 Euro named "International Day of Happiness" on the 17th of March 2014. The six stamps depict humans and animals with happy faces or performing an act that is consider a happy occasions. These stamps are being issued to proclaim the 20th March as the international Day of Happiness. The United Nations General Assembly selected this day to remind people around the world to promote happiness. Hopefully! the theme will remind people around the world that it is our duty and universal goal for all human kind to live in happiness. A goal that could be obtained if we could all work together. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says:

"The pursuit of happiness lies at the core of human endeavors. People around the world aspire to lead happy and fulfilling lives free from fear and want, and in harmony with nature."

"Let us reinforce our commitment to inclusive and sustainable human development and renew our pledge to help others. When we contribute to the common good, we ourselves are enriched. Compassion promotes happiness and will help build the future we want."

"International Day of Happiness" stamps can be purchase as a single, Set of 6, Sheets of 20, and Assorted FDCs. The size of the stamps is 30mm by 40mm with a stamp perforation size of 13.3 x 13.3 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Lowe Martin Group, Canada using the offset lithography printing process. Total of each issued:

  • 47c, 6500 sheets
  • $1.15, 6500 sheets
  • F.s. 1.00, 4500 sheets
  • F.s.1.40, 4500 sheets
  • 0.90 Euro, 5000 sheets
  • 1.70 Euro, 5000 sheets
