World Heritage - Africa

The United Nations Postal Service has issued six new stamps that have postage values of 45 and 55 cents, 0.85 and $1.00 F.s., 0.62 and 0.70 Euro named "World Heritage-Africa" on the 5th of September 2012. These new commemorative stamps were issued to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of nature. To help with this goal the United Nations has developed an international treaty called the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Each of the stamps and design locations are listed in the table below:

  • 45 Cents Stamp - United Republic of Tanzania: Kilimanjaro National Park
  • $1.05 Stamp - Mali: Old Towns of Djenne
  • F.s 0.85 Stamp - Democratic Republic of the Congo: Virunga National Park
  • F.s. 1.00 Stamp - Tunisia: Amphitheatre of El Jem
  • 0.62 Euro Stamp - Kenya: Kenya Lake System
  • 0.70 Euro Stamp - Morocco: Medina of Marrakesh

"World Heritage-Africa" stamps can be purchase as singles, Sheets of 20, and various FDC's. The size of each stamp is 50mm x 36mm with a perforation size of 13.1 x 13.1 using the 2cm reference. The stamps were printed by Lowe-Martin Group, Canada using the Offset printing method. The quantity printed of each is listed in the table below:

  • 45 Cents - 7,500 sheets
  • $1.05 - 7,500 sheets
  • F.s. 0.85 - 6,000 sheets
  • F.s. 1.00 - 6,000 sheets
  • 0.62 Euro - 7,000 sheets
  • 0.70 Euro - 7,000 sheets
