Christmas Tree Decorations

The Switzerland Postal Service has issued 2 new stamps that have postage values of 70 & 90 CHF named "Christmas Tree Decorations" on the 19th of November 2003. The stamps feature a little wooden horseman and a Father Christmas made of glass. Wooden Christmas Tree decoration were being used to decorate Christmas Trees in the early 1800's. They were carved into horseman, nutcrackers, angels, candlesticks, stars, Santa Claus's and many others figures. Wooden Christmas decorations mainly belong to the 20th century arts and crafts. Nowadays, glass bulbs and glass figures are the most popular decoration. They are seen in stores and home decoration all over the world.

The "Christmas Tree Decorations" stamps can be purchased as a set of stamps, 4 Block Set, Collection Sheet, or different types of FDC's. Each stamp size is 28 mm x 33 mm with a perforation of 11 1/2 mm . They will be printed by the House of Questa, London using the Five-color rotogravure printing process with matted gummed white paper.
