Pro Patria-Small Buildings

The Switzerland Postal Service has issued four new Pro Patria stamps that have postage values of 85+40, and 100+50 chf named "Pro Patria-Small Buildings" on the 2nd of May 2012. Since 1996 the Swiss foundation Pro Patria has maintain a fund for the restoration of small Swiss buildings. The fund is used to restore building such as chapels, wayside shrines, storehouses, barns, winepresses, bakehouses, mills, and sawmills and other buildings that date back to the dawn of industrialization. Over the past 15 years more then 400 projects throughout Switzerland have received funding of nearly four million Swiss francs. The four stamps issued depict four of these building projects and they are listed as follows:

  • The lion fountain on the Eichberg estate, Uetendorf 85 + 40 (top left)
  • Ferme des Trons storehouse, Mezeires 85 + 40 (top right)
  • Villa Abendstern Summer House, Wadenswil 100 + 50 (Bottom left)
  • Crotti Brusio, Poschiavo 100 + 50 (Bottom right)

"Pro Patria-Small Buildings" stamps can be purchase as a set of 4, Set of Blocks of 4, Sheets of 20, Booklet of 10, Folder, Collection sheet and various FDCs. The size of the each stamp is 28mm x 33mm with a perforation size of 14 x 13 3/4 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Joh. Enschede, Haarlem, Netherlands using the offset 5 color printing process with 110gms paper.
