Switzerland Postal Services 2011 Issue

The Switzerland Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have postage values of 85+40 CHF and 100+50 CHF named "Steamboats" on the 5th of May 2011. These new stamps have been issued with a special surcharge that will be used to help rebuild and maintain the steamship fleet in Switzerland. Presently the Switzerland steamship fleet has 15-saloon steamers, one half-saloon steamer and one propeller-driven steamer. Currently the PS Neuchatel half-saloon steamer is being rebuilt. The four steamships depicted on the stamps are described as follows:

  • PS Piemonte (top left)
  • PS Gallia (top right)
  • PS Blumlisalp (bottom right)
  • PS La Suisse (bottom left)

"Steamships" stamps can be purchased as a set of 4, Sheets of 20, Booklets of 4 and 6, Assorted Blocks of 4, Folder, Collection sheet or various FDC'S. The size of each stamp is 33mm x 28mm with a perforation of 13 1/4 x 13 1/2 using the 2cm reference. The size of the sheets is 195mm x 140mm. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing, France using the 5 color offset printing process with 110gms paper.
