Saurians in Switzerland

The Switzerland Postal Service will issue three new stamps that have postage values of 85, 100 and 140 CHF named "Saurians in Switzerland" on the 3rd of September 2010. Saurians is a term used to refer to extinct reptiles. In this case they are Dinosaurs that roamed Switzerland during the Mesozoic Era. For this issue a land, a water and a flying dinosaur are depicted on the stamps. Each is identified below:

  • Theropoda (85chf) - skeleton parts were discovered in Frick, Switzerland
  • Ichthyosaurs (100chf) - skeleton parts were also found in Frick, Switzerland.
  • Pterosaurs (140chf) - skeleton parts were found on Tinzenhorn mountain in Canton Graubunden, Switzerland

"Saurians in Switzerland" stamps can be purchased as a set of 3, Sheetlets of 6, Set of four Blocks, Collectors Sheet, Folder and various FDC's. The size of the stamps is 33mm x 28mm and the size or the sheetlets is 192mm x 95mm. Stamp perforation is 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Cartor Security Printing using the offset printing process with 110gms paper.
