Christmas Decoration Stamp 2002

Swiss Postal Service has issued the third new stamp in it Christmas Tree Decoration Series. The new stamp illustrates a cardboard church decoration from Bohemia and was issued November 19th 2002. The two previous Christmas Tree Decoration stamps were issued in 2000 and 2001. Christmas Tree decoration have gone through many different stages of development. Decoration started with fruits, confectionery or nuts, brightly colored paper flowers and lights, but after the 1840s more and more glass bulbs were being used. The previous Christmas issues are shown below.

The 2002 Christmas Stamp can be purchase as a single mint or canceled stamp, mint or canceled block of 4, single or block of 4 on FDC, sheet of 20 canceled or mint, collection sheet mint or canceled, or a mint or canceled folder. Each stamp size is 28 mm x 33 mm and the sheet size is 162 mm x 172 mm. Perforation size is 11 1/2 mm and the paper is white with visible fibers and matt gummed. The stamps will be printed using the rotogravure process by The House of Questa in London. The first day cancellation stamp is shown below
