50 Year Rega

The Swiss Postal Service will issued its first hologram stamp on the 12th of March 2002. The name of this new issue is "50 Years Rega." It honors Rega (Swiss Air-Rescue), a charitable foundation, that operates under the guidelines of the Red Cross. Its objective is to provide people in emergency situations with fast, expert assistance form the air. Their air-ambulance fly worldwide and are equipped with medical equipment and personnel for onboard medical care. The fleet uses the Agusta A-109-K2 helicopters that has two 771 HP engines and can reach speeds of up to 170 mph. The helicopter is equipped with a 55 yard winch that can hold a patient and a rescuer. The fleet also uses the Challenger CL-601A and Hawker 800Bs jets as air-ambulances. This stamps will make an excellent addition to any collection. Remember first is always a plus with any collection item.

The stamp can be purchase as a single, Sheet of 10, Collection sheet, Folder, unstamp cover, or a FDC with a single stamp or a block of 4. The size of the each stamp is 40 x 32.5 mm and the size of each sheet is 106 x 188.5 mm. Perforation size of 13 x 13.25 and the printing process is sheet offset using 110g/m2 paper with 5 color Gyrogram.
