Churches at Christmas

Sweden Postal Service has issued four new Christmas stamps on the 21st November 2002 named "Churches at Christmas. The new stamps feature Swedish churches in Sweden at Christmas. The four churches and postage values is as follows:

  • Kiruna Church, 8Kr (Top Left) - is located in northern Sweden. Its wooden construction and large windows let in the winter light. Twelve golden sculptures stand guard on the roof with names like Inspiration, Rapture, Pride, Love and Sorrow.
  • Habo Church, 8Kr (Top Right) - has a wooden cathedral, spacious hall and a wealth of pictures featuring the Ten Commandments, the Confession, the Lord's Prayer and all of Luther's Catechism.
  • Sundborn Church, 8Kr (Bottom Left) - located in Dalecarlia has Flowers, Wreaths, doves and angels adorn walls and ceiling by artist Carl Larsson.
  • Tensta Bell Tower 8Kr (Bottom Right) - is a wooden tower located in northern Uppland. It has a Weathercock at its peak and chimes Christmas during the Christmas season.
The Churches at Christmas stamps can be purchase as a booklet of 8 either mint or canceled, FDC or Collection Sheet. Each stamp size is 32.87 mm x 31.25 mm. The stamps will be printed using the 4 Color Offset process by Sweden Post Stamps, Stockholm.
