Poultry Stocks

The Sweden Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have a postage values of 6 SEK named "Poultry Stocks" on the 21st of March 2012. These four stamps depict four different types of Swedish Poultry stock that will grace many of this springs greeting invitation and congratulation cards. Each of the four poultry stocks are presented in more detail below:

  • Hedemore Hen (Top Left) - are found on farms in the Hedemora region of Dalarna province. Its feathers are waterproof and are usually white and blue.
  • Old Swedish Dwarf Hen (Top Right) - comes from the tame junglefowl which was introduced in Sweden in the 1760s by Swedish East India Company.
  • Swedish Spotted Hen (Bottom Left) - This hen has various spotted colors.
  • Orust Hen (Bottom Right) - has random white and black spots.

"Poultry Stocks" stamps can be purchase as a Booklet of 10, Collectors sheet, and FDC. The size of the each stamp is 26.2mm x 31.25mm . They were printed using the offset printing process.
