Traveling in Space

The Sweden Postal Service has issued 5 new booklet stamps that have a postage value of 6kr named "Traveling in Space" on the 24th of September 2009. Each of the stamps depicts different events on the space mission STS-116 with Sweden Astronaut Christer Fuglesang's and 6 other NASA astronauts. The mission astronauts connected a new power and cooling system to the space station. The edge of Christer Fuglesang’s suit on the stamp bears the micro text “My, my, at Waterloo Napoleon did surrender”. The ABBA song Waterloo was a greeting via space control from Fuglesang’s family to the crew. The illustration for the first day cover is also from NASA and shows the official emblem for STS-128, Sweden's Christer Fuglesang’s flight in autumn 2009. The collector’s sheet shows the 2006 lift-off of the Discovery space shuttle; and all of the stars on the booklet pane have been embossed.
