Sailing Ships

Sweden Postal Service has issued four new stamps with a postage value of 11 Kr each named "Sailing Ships" on the 15th of May 2008. These stamps depict five sailing ships that are now used as training and racing vessels. Four have been sailing the oceans for many years, while the fifth the Tre Kronor af Stockholm is a newly built vessel launch in 2005. Each of these vessels is a representation of the brig sailing type vessel that requires a large crew. In today's modern age a large number of sailing students can be trained on these ships at the same time. The name of each ship is listed below:

  • T/S Gunilla, (top left)
  • Tre Kronor af Stockholm, (top right)
  • Gratitude, (bottom left)
  • Gladan and Falken, (bottom right)

"Sailing Ships" can be purchased in a booklet of 4, Collector's Sheet, Souvenir sheet, or FDC. The size of the stamp is 39.9mm x 31.25mm . They will be printed using the Recess/Offset printing process.
