Rock 54-04

Sweden Postal Service has issued eight new stamps that have a postage value of 5.50 SEK each and are named "Rock 54-04" on the 2nd of October 2004. These commemorative stamps each depict a star of rock music and are being issued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of rock. Fifty years ago the king of rock & roll Elvis Presley got his first hit in his hometown of Memphis with the single "That's All Right Mama". Two years later he made his major break-through with songs like "Heartbreak Hotel", "Don't be Cruel" and "Hound Dog", which flew around the world. Since then, many different styles of rock have emerged from singer and bands around the world. Some of the famous Swedish rock artist depicted on these stamps are listed as follows:

  • Eva Dahlgren
  • Pugh Rogefeldt
  • Ulf Lundell
  • Tomas Ledin
  • Maria Andersson
  • Sahara Hotnights
  • Louise Hoffsten

"Rock 54-04" stamps can be purchased as a mint Booklet of 8, Collector's sheet, or FDC. Sizes of the booklet stamps are 29.5 x 39.31mm, 29.5 x 33.02mm, 36.06 x 39.31, 36.06 x 33.02 and the size of Elvis Presley Souvenir Sheet is 187 x 148mm The stamps will be printed by Sweden Post Stamps, Stockholm using the Offset printing process.
