Christmas 2004 Stamps

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year the San Marino Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have postage values of 0,60 Euro each named "Christmas 2004" on the 12th of November 2004. The four stamps are in a se-tenant format and depict little angels and Cherubs taken from the paintings and frescoes of the artist Sebastiano Ricci. The stamps depict these angels and Cherubs as a festive little band, wearing Santa Caps and carrying a sack full of gifts, busy decorating a Christmas Tree, and pouring out of a cornucopia which is bursting with fruit and prosperity. In the margins of the sheet containing four blocks of four stamps, there are the 21 different languages of the European Community that bear Christmas wishes. The languages are Czech, Danish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, English, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Magyar, Maltese, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish. Swedish, and German.

"San Marino 2004 Christmas Stamps" can be purchased as a block of 4, or Sheets of 16. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 40mm with a perforation size of 13x13. They will be printed by Walsall Securtiy Printers using the offset printing process. A quantity of 130,000 blocks will be issued.
