A World of Fairy Tales

San Marino Postal Service has issued four new stamps with postage values of 0.45, 0.60, 0.80, and 1.00 Euro named "A world of Fairy Tales" on the 20th of August 2004. The stamps depict four different scenes from some very popular fairly tale stories. Fairy tale stories have been around since ancient times and they have provided our children with the knowledge that reading can be fun and exciting. Parents and grandparents always like to read these stories to their children and grandchildren. It brings them both closer together and gives the child not only entertainment but knowledge of the real and fantasy world. Fairly tales stories have been written by many countries around the world. Some of these countries and tales are Ancient Rome gave us Phaedrus, Denmark who gave us Andersen, France La Fontaine and Perrault, Germany the brothers Grimm, Italy Leonardo, Collodi, Calvino and Rodari. Each of the stamps is described as follows:

  • Hansel and Gretel (0,45 Euro)
  • Little Red Riding Hood (0,60 Euro)
  • Pinocchio (0,80 Euro)
  • Puss in Boots (1,00 Euro)

"A World of Fairy Tales" stamps can be purchased as a Mint Stamp Set, Sheets of 20, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 40mm with a perforation of 13 x 13. The stamps will be printed by Walsall Security Printers using the Offset printing process. The quantity printed of each will be 190,000 of the 0.45 Euro stamps and 150,000 of the 0.60, 0.80, and 1.00 Euro stamps.
