Poggiali World Champion

San Marino Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage values of 1,55 Euro named "Poggiali World Champion" on the 6th of February 2004. Manuel Poggiali has won the world championship for motorcycles in the 250cc category. This is a record breaking feat considering that it was his debut. It was a triumphant conclusion to a season in which Poggiali was always in pole position right from the first GP, when at Suzuka Manuel was first under the checkered flag after starting in the 23rd position. The State Philatelic and Numismatics Company in San Marino is proud to celebrate the second world championship of Manuel Poggiali with this special issue of stamps. This issue is related to an earlier issue in 2002 celebrating Poggiali's victory in 2001 in the 125cc category. You can see this earlier stamp pane issue in our stamp sales section in index number 3 on page 9.

"Poggiali World Champion" stamps can be purchased as a single stamp, Sheets of 20 or FDC. The size of the stamp is 40mm x 28.50mm with a perforation size of 13. It will be printed by Carter Security Printing using the Offset printing process. A quantity of 160,000 complete sets will be printed.
