Snakes and Ladders

The San Marino Postal Service has issued a new 16 stamp sheet that have postage values of 0,41 Euro each named "Snakes & Ladders (Gioco dell'Oca)" on the 24th of October 2003. The stamps depict a typical board game played by families throughout San Marino. The stamp sheet is a reduced reproduction of the board game with plenty of Christmas Colors and symbols. The game is played with a pair of dice on a board divided into 63 spiralling boxes. Some of the boxes portrayed figures that led either to an advancement or to a penalty. The winner of the game is the first player to reach box 63. This issue is presented by San Marino State Philately and Numismatics Authority wishing all stamp collectors a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

"Snakes & Ladders" stamp sheet can be purchased as a single sheet, or FDC. The sheet size is 143 mm x 185 mm and each stamp size is 28 mm x 33 mm with a perforation size of 13. The stamps will be printed by Cartor Security using the Offset printing process. A total of 120,000 Souvenir Sheets will be printed.
