London - 30th Olympic Games

The San Marino Postal Service will issue a horizontal strip of four new se-tenant stamps that have a postage value of 0.50 Euro named "London - 30th Olympic Games" on the 13th of June 2012. This issue is to celebrate the most famous world sports event ever that started on the 6th of April 1896 when the 1st Olympic Games were held in Athens; and its all thanks to a young French baron Pierre Fredi de Coubertin who was a committed sports fan that came up with the idea to start the games. From that time on the Olympic games have been held every four years in different cities and countries throughout the world. This year the Olympic summer games start on the 27th of July 2012 in London. This horizontal se-tenant strip begins with the Olympic Torch followed by Swimming, Athletics and ends with Trap Shooting.

"London - 30th Olympic Games" stamps can be purchase as a horizontal strip of 4, Souvenir sheet of 12, and various FDCs. The size of each stamp is 56mm x 39mm with a perforation size of 13 x 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Carter Security printing using the four color offset printing process. A total of 150,000 blocks of four will be printed.
