75th Anniversary of the Birth of Luciano Pavarotti

The San Marino Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 2.20 Euro named "75th Anniversary of the Birth of Luciano Pavarotti" on the 5th of October 2010. The stamp is being issued to commemorate this famous tenor who is consider one of the greatest tenors of the century. Born in Modena on the 12th of October 1955, he revealed his vocal talent at a very early age. He continue this training with vocal teachers Maestro Arrigo Pola and then with Maestro Ettore Campogalliani. In 1961 he won the international competition "Achille Peri" which kick off his career. He made his debut in the Teatro Municipale in Reggio Emilia with La Boheme by Puccini. From then on his career as a tenor sky rocketed on the world stage; and where ever he performed he received standing ovations.

"75th Anniversary of the Birth of Luciano Pavarotti" stamp can be purchased as single, sheets of 20, or FDC. The size of the stamp is 40mm x 30mm with a stamp perforation of 14 x 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Joh. Enschede using the Offset printing process. A quantity of 70,000 stamps will be printed.
