San Marino Postal Services 2010 Issue

Art Master

The San Marino Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have postage values of 1.00, 1.40, 1.45 and 1.50 Euro named "Art Master" on the 26th of July 2010. Each stamp depicts a famous artist painting. Each of the paintings is described below:

  • The Birth of Venus (1.00 Euro)- painted by Botticelli between 1485-88. It is now being shown at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
  • The Tempest (1.40 Euro)- painted by Giorgione between 1504-07. It is now being shown at the Accademia Galleries in Venice.
  • The Supper at Emmaus (1.45 Euro)- painted by Caravaggio in 1601. It is now being shown at the National Gallery in London.
  • The Football Player (1.50 Euro) - painted by Rousseau in 1908. It is now being shown at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

"Art Master" stamps can be purchased as a set of 4, Sheets of 20, or FDC. The size of the stamps are 30mm x 40mm with a stamp perforation of 14 x 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Joh. Enschede using the Offset printing process.
