San Marino and Japan Joint Issue

The San Marino Postal Service has issued a new souvenir sheet that has 4 stamps with a postage value of 1.50 Euro named "Joint Issue San Marino-Japan" on the 17th of March 2010. On top of this souvenir sheet the flag of Japan and the flag of San Marino are shown. On the bottom of the souvenir sheet paintings of a "Japanese women" by Utaro Kitagawa and "St. Mary Magdalene" by Francesco Menzocchi are shown. Each of the stamps on the souvenir sheet are described below:

  • upper left - First Tower and the bust by Vittorio Pochini "The Repubblica"
  • upper right - Japanese castle, Himeji
  • bottom left - "The apparition of Saint Marinus to his people" painted by Emilio Retrosi
  • bottom right - "Nihonbashi in the Morning" painted by Tokaido-Gojyusantugi

"Joint Issue San Marino-Japan" stamps can be purchased as a Souvenir sheet. The size of each stamp is 40mm x 30mm; and the size of the souvenir sheet is 113mm x 153mm with a stamp perforation size of 13 x 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing using the six color offset printing process. A total of 120,000 souvenir sheets will be printed.
