European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009

The San Marino Postal Service will issue 3 new 3D stamps with a postage value of 1 Euro named "European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009" on the 25th of August 2009. These 3 special 3D stamps in reality are actually 6 due to the two different images required by the system for each stamp. Printed on 3 mini-souvenir sheets which are designed to fit into the stereoscope (see below) for viewing 3D. The stamps depict three of San Marino's most classic views that were specially selected and photographed by Paolo Candelari and his assistance Nicola Franchini. The special stereoscope is included with the purchase of the stamps. This is the first type of 3D ever issued on stamps and was developed by Paolo Candelari.

"European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009" can be purchased as a kit with the three mini-sheets and stereoscope. The size of each stamp is 45mm x 33mm and the size of the Mini-Souvenir Sheets is 150mm x 43mm. The stamps perforation size is 13 3/4 x 14 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Cartor Security printing using the 4 Color offset printing process. A total of 80,000 mini souvenir sheets will be printed.
