Centenary of the Futurist Manifesto

San Marino Postal Service has issued a new souvenir sheet with ten stamps that have a postage value of 0.60 Euro each named "Centenary of the Futurist Manifesto" on the 20th of February 2009. This new souvenir sheet depicts a manifesto that appeared on the Paris newspaper Le Figaro, written by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti on the 20th of February 1909. The stamps present Futurism's main themes: dynamism, with a vertical sequence which ranges from Giacomo Balla's "Dog on a leash", Carlo Carra "Red Horseman" up to Umberto Boccioni's cyclist: heroic modernism with Gino Severini's "Armoured train"; industrial progress with AntonioSant'Elia's "Electric power plant" and much more.

"Centenary of the Futurist Manifesto" can be purchased as a souvenir sheet only. The size of the souvenir sheet is 185mm x 143mm. It will be printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps BV using the Offset printing method. A quantity of 90,000 sets will be printed.
