Camilla Collett Bicentenary - Centenary of Womens Suffage

The Norway Postal Service will issue two new stamps that have postage values of 17kr, and 30kr named "Camilla Collett Bicentenary - Centenary of Womens Suffrage" on the 9th of September 2013. These stamps depict two women rights activist that began there struggle in the 1800s. On the 17kr stamp we have Comilla Collett who was part of the Norwegian womens liberation movement and had participated in public debate from the 1840s. In 1854 she published a novel named "The District Governor's Daughters". This novel was about a love story between a man and women where the man made public decision and the women had to be passive. Her writings provided strong inspiration in the fight for voting rights. The stamp also depicts the front cover of "Amtmandens Dottre"

On the 30kr stamp we have Anna Rogstad who was the first women member of the Storting in 1911. This gave power for women to fight for suffrage and in 1912 all political parties gave their support for universal voting rights for women and men. The Bill was unanimously passed by the Sorting on 7 June 1913. This stamp also depicts the Parliament Building.

"Camilla Collett Bicentenary - Centenary of Womens Suffrage" stamps can be purchase as singles, and FDC. They will be printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the Recess / Offset printing process.
