Norwegian Popular Music IV - Male Artists

The Norway Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have a postage value of 9.50 NOK (A Domestic) named "Norwegian Popular Music IV - Male Artists" on the 14th of September 2012. This is the forth issued in the Norwegian popular music stamp series. This issue the stamps depict four popular Norwegian male music artists. Each is listed below with a short description of their careers.

  • Sondre Lerche (Top Left) - was only 19 years old when he released his first album named Faces Down in 2001. Since then, he has released two albums named "Two Way Monologue" and "Duper Sessions". He has also established his music in the USA, Australia and many European countries.
  • Ole Paus (Top Right) - started his career with the release of "Der ute-derinne" album in 1970. Since then, he has release many hit albums and is consider to be controversial artist because his music expresses social criticism.
  • Age Aleksandersen (Bottom Left) - is regarded as Norways King of Rock and has release many hit albums. He has won many different music awards and was decorated Knight, First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 2006. His greatest accomplishment was his induction into the Rockheim Hall of Fame in 2011.
  • Morten Abel (Bottom Right) - started his career in 1962. But it wasn't until 1991, that he became popular with the hit "Mother I've Been Kissed". He then release four more albums that produced many hit songs. This earned him two awards in 2001; and in that same year he was voted Artist of the Year.

"Norwegian Popular Music IV - Male Artists" stamps can be purchase as a set of four, Rolls of 100, or FDC. They were printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print, The Netherlands, using the offset printing process. Total quantity printed 2,602,500 of each stamp.
