Norwegian Lighthouses III

The Norway Postal Service has issued two new stamps that have a postage value of A or Domestic named "Norwegian Lighthouses III" on the 15th of June 2012. These two new lighthouse stamps being issued in this series is devoted to the Kavringen and Medfjordbaen lighthouses located in the Oslo Fjord. Both are unmanned Lighthouses, and a brief description of each is as follows:

  • Kavringen Lighthouse - was build in 1892 and is located on Sondre Kavringdyne which is one of a group of skerries(rocky isle) in the western seaward approach to the Port of Oslo.
  • Medfjordbaen Lighthouse - was build in 1876 and is a sunken rock in the middle of the Oslo Fjord just off Slangentangen in the county of Vestford.

"Norwegian Lighthouses III" stamps can be purchase as singles, Booklets of 10, Collectors Set, Collectors Sheet, Presentation Pack, and various FDCs. They were printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the offset printing process.
