Christmas Traditions

Norway Postal Service has issued two new Christmas stamps on the 20th of November 2002 named "Christmas Traditions." Each has a postage value of 5.50 NOK. These Attractive Christmas decorations depict a double heart made of straw and a delicate double eight-point star cut out of paper. These figures have a long tradition in Norway. The star serves as a reminder of the star in Bethlehem and the heart reminds us of the need to love each other. Even though Christmas has become a festival of lights, the use of straw and paper to make Christmas decoration is still being practices in schools and at home.

The Norway 2002 Christmas stamps can be purchased in a booklet of 8 stamps each, Presentation pack, collector set, or FDC. The stamps will be printed using the Photogravure printing process by Joh. Enschede, Netherlands. A quantity of 1,925,000 booklets will be printed.
