The New Zealand Experience

The New Zealand Postal Service will issue six new stamps with postage values of 60c, $1.20, $1.90, $2.40 and $2.90 named "The New Zealand Experience" on the 5th of October 2011. These stamps are being issued to give the people a taste of New Zealand uniqueness with its beautiful countryside and abundance of tourists activities. Every year, millions of tourists explore New Zealand's diverse landscape by foot, boat or even a bungy cord. Each of the stamps is listed below with a brief description:

  • The Great Outdoors (60c top left) - New Zealand is home to 14 national parks and an assortment of stunning walking trails
  • Water Sports (60c top middle) - New Zealand is surrounded by water and has many places for water sports which include: jet Skiing, windsurfing, and laying on one of its many beaches
  • Fishing ($1.20 top right) New Zealand has an abundance of lakes, rivers and streams for fishing which include: big game fishing, trout fishing or even whitebaiting.
  • Culture
  • ($1.90 bottom left) - Maori culture is the foundations of New Zealand's identity and history. Throughout the country, you will se Maori arts, kapa haka, marae, and some Maori language.
  • On the Slopes ($2.40 bottom middle) - New Zealand has many world-class ski fields. From the Southern Alps to the south Mounts Ruapehu and Taranaki in the north.
  • Extreme Sports ($2.90 bottom left) - World famous bungy jump was invented in New Zealand and is one of the many exptreme sports found in New Zealand. Other sports include: white water rafting, sky-diving and zorbing.

"The New Zealand Experience" stamps can be purchased as a set of six, Sheets of 25, Mini-sheet of 6, Special blocks, Presentation pack, or FDC's. The size of the stamps is 30mm x 40mm with a perforation size of 14 x 14 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Southern Color Print Ltd. using the offset lithography printing process with Tullis Russell 104 gms gummed paper.
