Matariki 2010 - Manu Tukutuku

The New Zealand Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have postage values of 50c, $1.00, $1.80 and $2.30 named "Matariki 2010 - Manu Tukutuku" on the 9th of June 2010. These four new stamps are being issued all around New Zealand to join Maori in welcoming Matariki, the beginning of a new year. The stamps are a unique collection focused on manu tukutuku (traditional Maori kites). Traditionally manu tukutuku were produced and flown at the time of Matariki. So what better time to issue these stamps. The names of these four kites are listed below:

  • 50c - Manu Aute
  • $1.00 - Manu Patiki
  • $1.80 - Manu Taratahi
  • $2.30 - Upoko Tnagata

"Matariki 2010-Manu Tukutuku" stamps can be purchased as a set of 4, Mini-sheet, Sheets of 25, Presentation Pack, 2010 Limited Edition or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 40mm (two vertical, two Horizontal) with a stamp perforation size of 14 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Southern Colour Print Ltd using the offset lithography printing process with 104gms Tullis Russell gummed stamp paper.
