2009 Health

The New Zealand Postal Service will issue three new stamps with postage values of 50 + 10 cents and $1.00 + 10 cents named "2009 Health" on the 7th of September 2009. These types of stamps are issued each year to support The New Zealand Foundation for Child and Family Health and Development. An organization that delivers an invaluable community service to the lives of their younger generation. Each stamp carries a surcharge that is donated to the Children's Health Camps to help them in their work. This year New Zealand celebrates the 80th anniversary of Children's Health stamps with these three new designs using an image of a stamp from the past.

  • New Zealand's first triangular stamps were issued in 1943 which feature Her Majesty (then Princess) Queen Elizabeth II and Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret. (50c + 10c surcharge-self-adhesive)
  • A 1996 Children's Health - Road Safety issue for child restraint seats. (50c + 10c surcharge - gummed)
  • A 1932 Hygiea stamp was the first to be issued with the surcharge inscribed for Health rather than Charity ($1.00 + 10c gummed)

"2009 Health" stamps can be purchased as a set of 2 and a single, Sheets of 25 (gummed) and Sheets of 100 (self-adhesive), Various block sets, and two different FDC's. The size of the stamps is 35mm x 40mm (gummed) and 25mm x 30mm(self-adhesive) with a stamp perforation size of 13.33 x 13.60 (gummed) using the 2cm reference.
